Chosen as one of Barbra Walters’ “Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009″ which debuted last night, Adam and Babs discussed his life, career and that kiss at great length — but the 80-year old host avoided a clip, merely telling Adam he had, ‘turned the music industry inside out doing things we won’t show you here.”
Since Bab’s show aired ABC has been in full BS-mode, “It was an editorial decision to show little from the performance and focus on the new interview,” one of ABC’s trainee bigots told TMZ.
But while most of the interview revolved on that kiss…which they would not show, Babs did show a girl-on-girl kiss that involved Lady GaGa. But our friend, the pet flunky’s not done;
“We never had a problem showing the kiss. In fact we did not even edit it from the west coast feed of the show.” he explained.
No, they just banned Adam from ‘GMA’ the next day. And at least once more since that date. But to prove what an open-minded bunch ABC likes to think they all are, a Press Release added this;
“The network has a solid record of showing gay people in prime-time, which is why GLAAD gave us top honors for the positive portrayal of gays for the past several years.”
Those guys at the mouse-house really need to un-clench; Adam’s getting pilloried for doing the very same thing that wins Madonna endless exposure and voluminous praise.
But the kiss happened just four days before his first album came out, and all the free press it created must have really helped sales.
Not that this was the motive, of course[??]
Both network TV, and most of Hollywood still need to buy a stepladder and get over themselves…
