Eminem to star in Super Bowl claymation tea ad

Eminem to star in Super Bowl claymation tea ad That costly indulgence in high-profile hype that is Super Bowl ads now has a new convert – Eminem is due to appear in a claymation ad for Lipton’s ‘Brisk’ iced-tea during Sunday’s game.
The 38-year old singer will appear as a plasticine figure in a 30-second spot which insiders say gives the viewer a humorous glimpse into an apparently typical day in Em’s life.
Claymation first became popular in 1986 when the BBC broadcast a brilliantly crafted video of Jackie Wilson’s 1957 hit ‘Reet Petite.’ Ozzy Osbourne, Frank Sinatra and ‘Machete’ star Danny Trejo then appeared in clay form in commercials for ‘Brisk,’ but the medium went out of fashion in the late 1990′s.
As for Eminem, his latest album ‘Recovery’ is seen by reviewers as his comeback from alcohol and drug abuse, and he’s since made it clear he now plans to build a more substantial career and avoid the cheap tricks and shock tactics for which he became increasingly known.
Most advertisers avoided Em’s previous image like poison, but this new facade could be his ticket to reentry in the media business. What do you think – are we about to see ‘Eminem 2.0,’ or is this all just part of the Super Bowl media pitch?…
