Dumped from American Idol – The “Paula Abdul kicked off American Idol” story is a bit subjective; she announced she was leaving the show, but many suspect that this was probably a bargain made with producers to leave quietly, with generous severance, and less media involvement, than if they had actually fired her. Why fire Paula Abdul? Well, if not for her constant insipid performance, her wacked behavior, then perhaps for her stormy personal life, paranoid rants, or emotional instability.


3. Christian Bale Taped Yelling/Threatening the Lighting Director on  Terminator: Salvation Set -  This was a big one for me; I was a die-hard Christian Bale fan, I -loved- this man, saw all of his films, including his first, Empire of the Sun, when he was just a kid. I saw the cheaply made movies, American Psycho b-movie, and everything the guy did was pure gold. But when I heard him go off on that guy, that was it for me. The fake apology didn’t cut it for me either. I never saw Terminator: Salvation, despite being a big Terminator franchise fan too. Sorry, Christian Bale is a big star, sure, but that’s unacceptable behavior. Celebrities caper and act like imbeciles 90% of the time, –but this level of violence, inconsideration, and pure malice made me check my love for the guy, and abandon all affection.
2. Tiger Woods – God, when will the Tiger Woods scandal end? It score second on the list because nobody saw this coming: the guy was the golden boy of golf. Hell, he almost made televised golf actually watch-able. That’s something no one has ever done before. It’s golf, for god’s sake, the most boring sport in the world, aside from Curling. Then out of nowhere, it turns out, he’s a compulsive sex-obsessed machine, and is on the verge of losing everything. Aside from his money, –but if this is the true face of Tiger, then maybe he can count the loss of his family as insignificant, as long as his money is safe.
1. Michael Jackson Dies While Heavily Sedated – The death of Michael comes first, because it wasn’t the scandal involved in the circumstances of his death, but his death itself. Michael Jackson had many flaws, alleged pedophilia among them, but you’d be hard pressed to find a more influential man in music, –he was up there with the Greats; Elvis Presley, Madonna, Aretha Franklin, and Johnny Cash. Michael Jackson left a fingerprint on the world that won’t soon be polished smooth, and despite his indiscretions, and trespasses, he was an incomparable human being.

Phillips Claimed Incestuous Rape – This was definitely a shocker for many, but scores low on the list because in this era, many are too young to even know who Mackenzie and John Phillips are. Mackenzie starred in the show One Day at a Time, an ancient retro sitcom, while her father, who she claims she had an incestuous affair with, was a rock legend, and a member of the Mamas and the Papas, famous for California Dreamin’, among other hits.
8. ABC’s Bold Censure of Adam Lambert Kiss – I found this rather scandalous, since minutes after airing censored material from the AMA’s, when Adam kissed a keyboard player, they same ABC show aired footage of a girl-on-girl open mouthed kiss, then later, the questionable kiss between Lady Gaga and what appeared to be another female, –it was as if the show was deliberately mocking the rights of the gay performer, Adam Lambert.
7. Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes Hook Up – The scandal didn’t lay in the hook-up, but in the fact that Cibrian was already with another woman; and it was only after the fact, that another mistress, additional to LeAnn, came out about dealing with her secret affair with the married Eddie Cibrian. Not as big as the Tiger Woods scandal, but still, would an asshole smell as much like sh*t by any other name?
6. Octomom Nadya Suleman and Her 14 Kids – The Octomom has 14 children, but her scandal wasn’t so much about her kids, as her unconventional views on plastic surgery, and her own time spent under the knife. Suleman might be a celebrity, and may even be the proud parent of 14 kids. But she doesn’t have an ounce of class to add to her other charms, that this writer thinks, are few and far between.

5. Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift at VMAs – The retardation heard round the world; millions were tuned in to the Video Music Awards, when Taylor Swift received her first VMA, and all were shocked, most offended, when Kanye West snatched the mic away to say that Beyonce deserved the award, not Taylor Swift, who stood speechless. Beyonce later invited Taylor Swift to the stage, graciously allowing Swift to finish her speech during Beyonce’s allotted time for an acceptance speech. They say that the devil is in the details; many seemed to think the interruption was staged. If I supported the staging theory, I would say that it was an attempt to get back in the good graces of the Caucasian community, after Beyonce’s flopped 2009 movie, Obsession, that introduced a new genre: white-sploitation, or as one blogger called the film, blonde-sploitation.

The Nasty Gosselin Divorce - This comes in last because honestly, who didn’t see this coming? Picture perfect family of ridiculously large proportions, throw in some media coverage and a reality show, and bam, –the dirty secrets start popping out of the woodwork. Kate Gosselin doesn’t strike me as the particularly innocent, but Jon was obviously the king douchebag in this scenario. Thank god he was ordered to stop appearing in the media.
13. Carrie Prejean Sex Tape – A beauty queen with a taped sex scene? The only thing more predictable than a beauty queen’s vapidity and sexual indiscretion is the divorce of a camera-happy picture perfect family. The only thing that secured Carrie Prejean a spot on this list were the various spoof videos of her sex tape, –fabulously funny stuff.
12. Chris Brown Arrested for Battery Against Rihanna – Someone, somewhere, was eventually going to batter Rihanna; she’s a loud, trashy woman who once crashed the wedding of her own relative, and was asked to leave for her behavior. Since then, I’ve been pretty sure that someone would eventually kick her ass. Am I sorry it was a guy? Not really, but the battered women groups will gut me later, if I don’t express a little regret. This is me, expressing some regret.

11. David Letterman Extortion Scandal - Once again, not that surprising, in that celebrities are often victims of extortion, –what was surprising, was that it turned out to be the producer of Letterman’s show that was trying to blackmail him. For what purpose, who knows, since I figure the guy made plenty of money already anyway. Maybe Letterman is just an asshole in real life?

10. Eric Dane from Grey’s Anatomy Sex Tape – This was plenty surprising, however, it wasn’t actually a scandal; Eric Dane wasn’t embarrassed, or humiliated, since the evening was a consensual event between adults. He was depicted with his girlfriend, and another woman in a threesome, while he did most of the filming. Way to go Eric Dane, for joining the kinkster crowd!
