After Hurricanes Frances and Jean

Photos in Sebastian Florida one year after Hurricanes Frances and Jean made landfall 30 miles to the south.
My sister and her husband renovated and re-opened this cute little bar The Riverhouse Tavern in a house which was built in 1920.

They opened one week before Francis hit.

Hurricane Francis damaged a wall and the roof.

Hurricane Jean took off the rest of the roof an two walls.

They were open for seven days.

This is how it looked one year later.

What a shame.

Hurricane Katrina

Katrina as tropical storm forming off Florida days before hitting New Orleans.

These photos were taken in Vero Beach the day before Katrina hit Palm Beach 60 miles to the south and several days before she strengthened in the Gulf and nailed New Orleans.

I told my brother after coming back from the beach that day that Katrina was going to be a massive killer - I was thinking Cuba or Mexico, and it wasn't even declared a hurricane yet. Nobody had even mentioned New Orleans.
