Scarlett Johansson scores bold Broadway bow

Those who truly love acting say you’re not a real ‘Actor’ until you’ve done stage work; And Scarlett Johannson has now made that leap.
At a mere 25, Scarlett is now braving the footlights  [and the famously sour New York critics] in Arthur Miller’s 1955 incest-themed drama, ‘A View from the Bridge.’
In it, Scarlett plays Catherine, a 17-year old still struggling to understand life in a Brooklyn ravaged by unemployment and still embittered by war, who inspires a jealous desire from her far-older uncle, Eddie Carbone; forcefully played by Liev Schreiber [seen here.]
As her Broadway debut – complete with a well-played Brooklyn accent – Johansson has taken the role played by the late Brittany Murphy in the last Broadway revival of Miller’s intense, family-centered work, which is rendered even more claustrophobic by a cast of just fifteen people.
For those who don’t recall the whole plot, Eddie [Schrieber] is greatly protective of Cathy, whom he and his wife have raised from a child. But Eddie sees red [Scarlet?] when two illegal immigrants [friends of his wife] arrive from Italy, and one – Rodolpho – gets rather cozy with Cathy.
Eddie hates this and tries to ruin both men’s lives, but after advice from his own wife Cathy marries the dude. Rod’s brother, Marco, then arrives for the wedding and Ed tries to kill him…But that’s not how it ends.
The play runs through April 4th at the Cort Theater on Broadway. If you’re a big fan of Scarlett, you need to see this – Given the demands of the role, it may be the last time you’ll have the chance to experience her live…

For four seasons now, Cruz starred in the Mango campaigns and she also co-designed several special collections for the brand with her sister Monica.
