With her marriage to Sam Mendes already over, Kate Winslet has now split from boyfriend, Louis Dowler and decided to become like Greta Garbo and live life alone.
The 35-year old Oscar winner split from second husband, Sam in March and met Louis soon after that at a party. And the new pair hit it off perfectly.
“Louis was just the tonic Kate needed after the split, and they had a wonderful time,” a friend tells the Mirror. “But they realized it isn’t working, and Kate needs space to be on her own.”
Kate even introduced the 35-year old model to her parents, Sally and Roger, and they and the pair’s friends had high hopes for the new bond. But pals now say it was just ‘Love on the rebound.’
“Kate’s very grateful to Louis for helping her pick her life up after the marriage and they had a lot of fun together,” says one ally. “But she felt it had to end and wants to concentrate on her career and children.”
Kate has a 10-year old daughter, Mia from a brief marriage to director Jim Threapleton, which ended in 2001. She then married Sam on May 24th, 2003 in the Caribbean and they had a son, Joe who’s now six.
Meanwhile, Louis moved to Chicago to be close to Kate while she was filming ‘Contagion’ with Matt Damon. But last month he returned to London alone.
“Louis was supportive of Kate and bonded really well with her children,” says the source. “But Kate felt she needed to go it alone in the end. She feels she’d rushed things and wants to be alone to find out what she wants.”
I’d say therapy and far lower maintenance needs. But who else would like to give Kate some advice?….
