The lucky guy is Marc Mezvinsky, son of Iowa’s former Democratic Representative, Ed Mezvinsky. The pair met in high school and became closer friends when they moved on to Stanford, where both studied finance.
29-year old Chelsea, the only child of former first-couple, Bill and Hillary Clinton, announced the engagement to about 500 close friends via mass email just before the weekend;
“We wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving, and also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past Summer, despite all the stories, but we are looking toward next Summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc.”
And it sounds like she picked the right guy – In February last year, 31-year old Marc bought a 1,900-square-foot apartment in the heart of New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue for just over $4 million – in cash.
The engagement rumors began with an unconfirmed leak in the New York Post in October of 2007.But the Clinton family’s official spokesman, Matt McKenna has confirmed to ABC News that this time the story is real, and that the pair did the deed just before Thanksgiving itself.
