The story began in March of ‘09 when Rimes, 28, cheated on her husband of seven years, Dean Sheremet with her co-star from a TV movie, Eddie Cibrian – who was also married. With two kids. Both couples divorced and LeAnn and Eddie now live together.
“My relationship with Dean was great, but ultimately it wasn’t a fulfilling marriage for either of us,” LeAnn tells Shape in the magazine’s interview. “I understand why people are disappointed in me, especially since I grew up as America’s sweetheart.”
But putting Rimes on the cover, with a sympathetic tag-line that reads; “How Working Out Saved Me” got the readers so upset, the mag’s editor has had to apologize;
Calling it “a terrible mistake,” Valerie Latona sent an email to those readers angered by the choice:
”Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover,” it reads. “Please know that this was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal but to show how we’re all human. And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in her most difficult time. But it did not come across that way. And for that I’m terribly sorry.”
And it’s signed “Humbly, Valerie.”
Printing a benevolent interview with an adulterous home-wrecker created acres of free press for Shape. And this apology could just be double-dipping to get even more. But what’s your review – Was LeAnn a bad choice, or does she deserve the accolade?…
