Prince William to announce engagement in June?

Prince William Kate Middleton In news that will propel any Brit into doom-laden despair or a jig of delight, it’s believed Britain’s Prince William will finally announce his long-teased engagement to girlfriend Kate Middleton in June.
According to ‘Daily Beast’ boss, Tina Brown, whose strong links to the monarchy helped her create the 2007 best-selling tome, “The Diana Chronicles,’ June 3rd and 4th are “mysteriously blocked out on the Palace diaries,” which, she suggests, is grounds to believe the announcement will be made at that time.
Should that be the case it’s thought Prince William, 27, and his lady, Kate Middleton, 28, could be married as soon as November – the same month as his grandmother, the Queen was, way back in 1947.
Using her spies in the Monarchy, Ms. Brown claims to have been told by a “high-placed source” that the dates were reserved so the engagement could be announced.
And such a date would fit rather well:
“The Queen and Prince Philip are approaching two landmarks,” she says. “Philip will be 90 in June 2011, and the Queen celebrates 60 years on the throne in February the following year.
Or, knowing Will’s fondness for doing it his way, he could opt for an announcement at Christmas, then a wedding near his Grandpa’s 90th bash. Phillip’s big day will bring a positive bus-load of overseas royals and various relatives to town, and by stalling until then the pair could save UK taxpayers a bundle of cash.
But his Grandma, the Queen would be pleased either way; “Their closeness to their grandson, especially Philip’s, makes them eager to see William settled in matrimony,” reports Tina.
A wedding would also help Kate’s well-known ambitions for power – Her boyfriend’s current title is ‘His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales, Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.” If he marries before the Queen dies he also becomes a Duke. And if his dad, Charles, then takes the throne, William becomes Prince of Wales as well.
But if his dad [who's already 61] takes a pass on the throne, Will becomes King – and Kate is thereby Queen of England.
But with that typical British reserve, a spokesman for the Royals told reporters that any suggestions Buckingham Palace had cleared the dates for a romantic announcement were “wide of the mark”.
If you follow this couple, what do you think? Should we all buy some flags, or is it more rumor?
